Admiralty - Maritime - Jones Act Claims - Death on the High Seas

Admiralty law is also referred to as maritime law. It is a distinct body of law governing the legal affairs and dealings between ship owners, crewmembers, passengers and cargo on the high seas and other navigable waters. Maritime law also applies to longshoremen, construction and other workers who provide support to ships while in anchorage as well as victims of maritime air accidents.

At the law firm of AndersonGlenn, LLC, located in Florida, our attorneys have provided legal services in admiralty law, since 1990. Both legal training and personal maritime background provide a unique perspective and offer a distinct advantage in our ability to resolve our clients’ admiralty law problems.

Attorney, Greg Anderson, has both a United Stated Coast Guard Six-Passenger coastal as well as a 100-ton Open Ocean Master’s license. An accomplished sailor, Mr. Anderson placed as high as third in the Nationals involving a class of catamaran and has been a regular competitor in various hobie-cat racing fleets. Greg Anderson started his first boating business in 1973 at the age of 14, renting and selling Hobie-Cats in St. Augustine, Florida for wholly owned company “Catamarans, ltd.”  Mr. Anderson is a member of the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute and a regular lecturer on admiralty law issues at IBEX and NMMA meetings.

Beginning in 1988, Mr. Anderson began handling production boat manufacturer defense cases which turned into a 20 year specialization, representing over 34 different production manufacturers as well as boat dealers, marinas, component manufacturers, and boat yards.
In the course of his professional career, Mr. Anderson has handled virtually every kind of admiralty and maritime case. He has tried over twenty boat defect cases for the boat industry, with a won-loss record of 18-2.

In addition to litigation, Mr. Anderson has handled the negotiations, contracting, financing and closing of such notable transactions as the purchase of the world’s fastest ocean liner, the legendary USS United States from its Turkish owner to an American client.
